About us
God is over all, and people are priority.
Our mission
Empower. Educate. Equip. Encourage — in excellence.
Dancey Memorial COGIC is a ministry that seeks to share love through friendship and service. With a dedication to excellence, our mission is to empower, educate, equip and encourage holy living based on Biblical principles. We are committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples, and growing in God's Word.
Our vision
Saved families. Saved communities. Saved nations.
We envision a world where every soul is embraced by God's love, where families are united in faith, communities thrive in harmony, and lives are transformed, saved by the redeeming power of Jesus Christ.
Our history
Rich history, humble beginnings.
Dancey Memorial is a vibrant, diverse and family-oriented Pentecostal community of faithful and energetic Christ-followers who are passionate about worship and pursuing issues of justice. Nestled in Oakland, we are dedicated to community engagement and service — serving God, our community and our beloved city with joy, and extending hospitality through many fellowship opportunities.
Established in 1956 by the late Superintendent Joseph and Mother Plumie Dancey, the church was founded on love and Biblical principles. Today, led by Bishop Joe L. and First Lady Joetta Dancey Nobles, Dancey Memorial continues the mission of serving our community, spiritually developing leaders, and adding to the Kingdom of God.

What we believe
Statements of faith
- 01We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.
- 02We believe there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- 03We believe in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.
- 04We believe the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
- 05We believe regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
- 06We believe the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.
- 07We believe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for Him.
- 08We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life.
